i think that he was thinking that he should go to church with steve's family gave him food and nice clothes to sleep in and that he should ask god forgiveness
When I read the story, he sounded surprised. He might not have been treated like this before. I also think that Steve wanted his friend and have him become a follower of Christ.
He probably thought, "Why are you doing this for me. I'm a terrible man. I do not deserve it. But, I need them, and it will be kind to accept. So that's what I think about the question.

I believe he was woundering why were they being so nice to him. No one really talked to him because they were scared. But these people actually wanted to help him.
This is what I think was going through Kibogo’s mind. “Why me? I didn’t do anything for you. Anyways, I don’t deserve this. I decided to use my money on drinking and smoking. If I didn’t use my money on that stuff, I would have enough money to buy my own clothes.”
I think it was good for Charles because he can tell people about God. Also he can say to his friends that he helped somebody. He was happy that he got a job. What was going on in Kibogo's mind was that he brought a house and he stopped drinking and he is an elder at his church. Also he was happy that Charles helped him to know about God ..
