    He died March 5,1963 at the age of 74.
    He was the leader of the Soviet Union.
    He started the "Great Purge".
    He replaced the new economic policy with the command economy.

(1)Joseph Stalin was born on December 21st, 1879 in Gori, Georgia.(2)He wanted so much power, he made up a organization that involved robbing trains, distributing illegal literature, and organizing workers.(3)He rose from bitter poverty to become ruler of a country that covered about a sixth of the world's land area.(4)He was responsible for the deaths of millions of Soviet peasants.(5)He agreed with Hitler to half the land of Europe and believed that Hitler would keep his word, when Hitler attacked his part of land.     -When Stalin was young, he committed all sorts of crimes, such as robbery, murder, and kidnappings.
    -During the late 1930's Stalin launched the 'Great Terror' campaign to purge the Communist Party of people accused of corruption.
    -In 1939 the Soviet Union under Stalin signed a non-aggression pact with Nazi Germany followed by a Soviet invasion of Poland, Finland, the Baltics, Bessarabia, and Northern Bukovina.
    -Stalin installed communist governments in most of Europe.
    -Stalin created the cult of personality of the Soviet Union around both himself and Lenin
